Franz Peter Schubert (1797-1828), was an Austrian composer. Erlkönig (also called Erl-King or Elf-King) is a ballad, written in 1782 by the German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The poem was set to music by Franz Schubert in 1815 (D. 328) and became one of his most famous songs.
